• Mei’s House (Ohtani Region) – The easiest and most consistent location. Fast travel here, and look directly above the estate to spot the lanterns.
• Tokyo Tower (Tokyo City) – You’ll find them floating near the base and around the plaza.
• Narai-juku (Shimanoyama Region) – The lanterns hover above the historic post-town streets, perfect for a scenic photo.
• Northern Ito Region Coast – Check around coastal buildings in the northern part of the Ito map; lanterns often drift over the water and rooftops.

The Seasonal Swap Mechanic
If you arrive at these spots and see Koinobori Fish Flags instead of lanterns, don’t worry. Forza Horizon 6 rotates these environmental objects with the weekly seasonal calendar, usually switching between Spring and Summer.
If you don’t want to wait for the weekly cycle, there’s a reliable workaround: replay the Prologue Race. Starting near Mount Fuji in the Takashiro region, the race sets the perfect time of day and atmosphere, ensuring Sky Lanterns spawn.

1. Drive to any verified Sky Lantern location or start the Prologue race.
2. Use Drone Mode or line up your car to center the lanterns in your view.
3. Press Up on the D-Pad to open the pause wheel, then select Photo Mode.
