Forza Horizon 6 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 Car Location Guide
There is nothing quite like the thrill of hunting down a hidden Barn Find in Forza Horizon. In Forza Horizon 6, some incredible automotive gems are tucked away across the beautiful landscapes of Japan, and one car you absolutely cannot afford to miss is the legendary 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500.
This iconic, massive-winged C-class touring car is waiting for you in the southern woods of the Ito region. If you want to add this piece of motorsport history to your garage completely free of charge, here is a breakdown of how to unlock the rumor, pinpoint the barn, and get it back out on the tarmac.
Step 1: Unlock the Barn Find Rumor
Before you go tearing off into the woods, you need to trigger the actual rumor. The game won't let you interact with the barn until the festival grapevine catches wind of it. Luckily, unlocking this specific rumor is a straightforward process tied to your natural campaign progression:
  • Check Your Journal: Open up your main campaign menu and pull up the Discover Japan collection journal.
  • Rank Up: Your main goal here is to build up enough points to level up your overall ranking to Level 2: Tourist.
  • Earn Points Quickly: If you are not quite there yet, don't worry. You can quickly stack up points by completing yellow story missions, knocking out regional road races, or driving around and smashing regional mascots scattered across the map.
  • Trigger the Rumor: Once you hit Level 2, you will earn the coveted Green Stamp. This officially activates the rumor and drops that familiar, massive purple search circle over the Ito region on your world map.
Step 2: Navigate to the Barn Location
With the purple circle active, it's time for the fun part: the actual search. The search zone can be a bit tricky due to the dense forest coverage, but you can bypass the guesswork by heading straight to a very specific intersection.
  1. Head to the Border: Set a waypoint and drive down to the southern border of the Ito region. You want to aim right for the spot where three different regional borders converge.
  2. Find the Junction: Look closely at your mini-map and identify the main crossroads junction sitting right at the southern edge of the designated purple search area.
  3. Spot the Hill: Position your car at this junction and look immediately south of the road. You will see a small, heavily wooded hill rising up into the trees.
  4. Locate the Hidden Trail: Keep your eyes peeled for an unmapped dirt pathway leading directly off the main asphalt road and cutting straight into the forest line.
  5. Claim the Car: Turn onto this hidden dirt trail and drive up the hill. As you push deeper through the dense foliage, the game will seamlessly trigger a cinematic cutscene, and you will officially claim your Sierra Cosworth!
Step 3: Restore and Retrieve Your New Ride
Like all classic Barn Finds, the Sierra Cosworth RS500 has seen better days. It has been sitting in the dark for decades, meaning it is covered in rust, dust, and needs some serious mechanical love before you can hit the track.
Once the cutscene wraps up, the vehicle will be hauled off to the Horizon garage staff for a full restoration. The restoration process takes about one to two hours of real-time gameplay. While the game will give you an option to pay a premium credit fee to bypass the wait time and restore it instantly, save your hard-earned credits! Instead, just go back to exploring, knocking out events, or drifting down the mountain passes. The festival staff will shoot you a radio notification the second the pristine paint job is dry and the engine is tuned.
Why the RS500 is Worth the Hunt
In the real world, the RS500 was a homologation special built to dominate Group A touring car racing, and that pedigree translates beautifully into Forza. Out of the box, its C-class rating makes it a phenomenal, balanced choice for historical street events, and it serves as an incredibly versatile tuning platform if you decide to build it into an absolute track monster later on.
