Supporting Hearing Health in Our Communities – What More Can We Do?
Hello everyone, I’ve been exploring the DHH Foundation’s work recently, and I’m truly inspired by how much effort goes into supporting individuals with hearing loss and improving awareness in our communities. I wanted to start a discussion here about what more we, as a community, can do to help strengthen hearing health initiatives. A few thoughts and questions to get the conversation going:
Awareness & Education What are the most effective ways you’ve seen to educate families and communities about early hearing screening, hearing protection, or assistive devices?
Community Engagement Have you participated in any local events, workshops, or outreach programs related to hearing health? What worked well?
Support for Families For people who have family members with hearing challenges, what kind of emotional or practical support helped the most?
Technology & Accessibility With hearing aids, apps, and new assistive tools advancing so quickly, what technologies do you think are making the biggest difference today?
ChallengesWhat barriers do you think still exist, awareness, affordability, stigma, and how do we realistically address them?
I’d love to hear everyone’s experiences, ideas, or even personal stories. Discussions like this can really help spread awareness and encourage more community-driven support. Thanks for reading, and looking forward to hearing your perspectives!
